Shaj Mathew is a Ph.D. candidate in comparative literature at Yale. His literary criticism has appeared in The New York Times Book Review, The New Republic, The New Inquiry, Lapham’s Quarterly, The Millions, and Guernica. His scholarly writing has appeared in Critique. Mostly he writes on contemporary American, Latin American, and Middle Eastern literature, film, and art.
