Shaj Mathew is a Ph.D. candidate in comparative literature at Yale. His literary criticism has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, and The New Republic. His scholarly articles have appeared or are forthcoming in Modernism/Modernity, Adaptation, and Critique. His academic reviews have appeared in Critical Inquiry.
Mostly he writes on Persian, Turkish, Latin American, and U.S. literature and film.
