As of Fall 2020, Shaj Mathew is Assistant Professor of English at Trinity University. He received his Ph.D. in comparative literature from Yale in December 2019.

His scholarly articles have appeared or are forthcoming in Modernism/Modernity, Adaptation, and Critique. His academic reviews have appeared in Critical Inquiry. He also contributes literary criticism to The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, and The New Republic.

Mostly he studies literature and film in Persian, Turkish, Spanish, and English.
